How help works

A clear request, then a conversation with Ian.

Start with a question or tell Ian what is going wrong. He confirms the scope, timing, and price before paid work begins.

Step 1 · ask or request

Start in your own words.

Ask Stone a general question, or send the separate request form when you want Ian to follow up. A chat question alone does not send Ian a request.

Step 2 · talk with Ian

Agree on the work.

Ian follows up on service requests and confirms the plan and maximum charge. Nothing on this site authorizes access to your equipment.

Common questions

The things people ask first.

Will anyone access my computer from this site?

No. Sending a question or request does not grant remote access. Ian discusses any work with you first.

What does it cost, really?

The rates above are the everyday ones for home and home-office work, and the problem decides the tier. Ian tells you which one applies before starting. Travel, business, and project work are quoted separately.

Do I have to pay to ask?

No. The form sends a request, nothing more. It takes no payment and gives nobody access to your computer.

Do you come to the house?

Often the problem is quicker to fix remotely, so Ian starts there. When hands-on help is genuinely the faster answer, he schedules a visit across Central Iowa.

Where exactly do you cover?

Des Moines and Central Iowa are the everyday service area. Ackley and Iowa Falls are a real but scheduled lane, with more availability in the summer months.

I am not very technical. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Describe it however makes sense to you — "it is slow", "it keeps turning off", "the printer stopped". Working out what that means is the job.

Can you help me keep my home phone number?

Ian can help check transfer eligibility with your chosen provider and coordinate the change. Keep the existing service active until the transfer is confirmed. Timing and eligibility depend on the providers.
